Among the early Tourbillon Souverain configurations, the yellow-gold dial plate is encountered less often than the other two plate choices. Set inside platinum, it also creates the strongest visual contrast. This example retains the original 38 mm proportions used before F.P. Journe increased the model's diameter. That compact scale gives the watch a presence quite unlike contemporary tourbillons, and Journe has never returned the reference to this size.
The 38 mm case is platinum, while the dial architecture is built over a yellow-gold plate with whitened, guilloché silver registers. Hours and minutes are displayed off center, with the tourbillon carriage exposed below them. The warm plate against the cool case gives this early execution a particularly memorable appearance. Only a small number were produced in this exact combination, and examples retaining crisp case definition are scarcer still.
